US President Donald Trump said that Iran had a “maximum” of two weeks to avoid possible US air strikes, a day after saying that he would make a decision within a fortnight on whether to take military action.
“I’m giving them a period of time, and I would say two weeks would be the maximum,” Mr Trump told reporters said when asked if he could decide to strike Iran before that.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Iran was “ready to consider diplomacy” during a meeting with European foreign ministers in Geneva early Saturday AEST in a bid to find an end to the conflict.
“Once the aggression is stopped and the aggressor is held accountable for the crimes committed,” Mr Araqchi added.
Israel and Iran continued to trade strikes early Saturday AEST. A hospital in the Israeli port of Haifa reported 19 injured, including one person in serious condition, after the latest Iranian salvo, which President Isaac Herzog said hit a mosque.
Iran said that Israeli strikes had killed at least 224 people since June 13, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
