US ‘ready’ to react if Iran responds to Israeli attack

Iran has warned it would defend itself after Israeli air strikes strikes killed at least four soldiers and further stoked fears of a full-scale war in the Middle East.

Israel warned Iran would “pay a heavy price” if it responded to the strikes, and the US, Germany and Britain demanded Tehran not escalate the conflict further.

It comes amid reports the US is “ready” to react if Iran responds to Israel’s bombardment.

“If Iran reacts – the United States will be ready and there will be consequences,” a US source told KANN News.

“However, we do not want to see this happen, this should be the end point for the direct exchange of fire between Israel and Iran.”

US President Joe Biden said he hoped “this is the end” after the pre-dawn Israeli strikes, noting that “it looks like they didn’t hit anything other than military targets”.

A former British commander has warned Iran could unleash its sleeper cells in the west in response to Israel’s strikes.

Colonel Richard Kemp, who led British forces in Afghanistan, said it’s a “real danger” that will soon become a reality when Tehran and its proxies decide to act.

He told The Sun Iran and Hezbollah could “activate” sleeper cells across Europe to launch attacks against the UK and US when they decide the time is right.

It comes as Israel launched a wave of revenge strikes into Iran in response to its unprecedented attacks earlier this month.

The military operation – dubbed “Days of Repentance” – saw Israel target Iranian air defence systems, missile and drone bases and production sites.

Tehran had fired some 180 ballistic missiles on October 1 after Israel wiped out Hassan Nasrallah – the chief of Hezbollah, Iran’s biggest and most powerful terror proxy.
