Prince William ’didn’t want’ Meghan Markle to wear Princess Diana’s jewellery on wedding day

New claims have been made about the so-called Fab Four’s explosive feud, as the Duchess was pictured in New York.

Meghan Markle set to launch ‘ultimate weapon’ against the Royal Family

Prince William “didn’t want” Meghan Markle to wear Princess Diana’s jewellery on her wedding day over concerns about her match with Prince Harry, an explosive new book claims.

Royal author Robert Jobson has claimed William “sought assurances” from the late Queen Elizabeth that Meghan would not wear Diana’s jewels, according to The Sun.

Princess Catherine had worn her late mother-in-law’s jewellery to her Westminster Abbey wedding with William in 2011.

She was also given Diana’s sapphire engagement ring when William proposed.

But Jobson claims William tried to prevent Meghan from wearing his mother’s jewels after becoming “concerned” when Meghan allegedly made Catherine cry during a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s dress.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan rejected the claim saying it was Catherine that made her cry.

It appears the elder brother did not fully win his alleged argument as Meghan was pictured wearing one of Princess Diana’s most memorable items of jewellery, an aquamarine cocktail ring made by Asprey, at her wedding reception.

In his new book Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, Jobson alleges that behind the scenes, Harry and Meghan’s wedding was fraught with bickering and feuding.

He writes: “By the time William was confirmed as best man, the relationship had worsened.

“Still concerned about the match, he’d sought assurances from the Queen that Harry’s bride would not be wearing any of Princess Diana’s jewellery, even though his own wife was allowed to wear it.”

Jobson said Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor was a “spectacular success” despite the bickering.

He writes: “The royal family were all smiles, though privately they were at daggers drawn.”

It came as Meghan was pictured looking the epitome of elegance at a Hamptons business summit after flying to New York from her Montecito home on a private jet with entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima.

The Duchess of Sussex was all smiles as she posed for a happy snap at the G9 Ventures Summer Summit, hosted by high-profile businesswoman Amy Griffin.

Ms Lima, the founder of It Cosmetics, also shared a set of photos to Instagram featuring Meghan, who looked radiant in a natural-coloured vest and pants by Revolve.

Jobson also claims in his new book that Catherine was the architect behind the scathing “recollections may vary” statement, issued by the late Queen Elizabeth, which put royal statement that put Meghan in her place.

The royal expert details in the new book how a seething Catherine hit back after Meghan and Harry’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

“Meghan, supported by Harry, was telling Oprah Winfrey that members of the Royal Family had expressed ‘concerns and conversations about how dark (her baby’s) skin might be’,” Jobson writes. .

“The Palace was forced to issue an unprecedented statement on behalf of the Queen, which said: ‘The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.’

“The original draft of the statement had been much milder, but both William and Catherine had been keen to toughen it up.

“It was the then Duchess of Cambridge herself who came up with the powerful phrase ‘recollections may vary’.”

Meghan caught heat last month when she had Harry’s polo pal, Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras, soft launch her new line of dog treats on Instagram on the same day Catherine made her first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis.

Figueras, an Argentinian actor and model, posted a photo of his pooch enjoying the dog biscuits from Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard range just hours before Trooping the Colour – a parade to celebrate King Charles’ birthday.

The Palace had announced at the eleventh hour that Catherine was well enough to join the festivities to joy of royal watchers.

Although Figueras’ dog biscuit Instagram story is long gone, more than a month later Catherine’s loyal fans continue to comment on his unrelated social media posts berating him for the perceived slight.
