‘Fiction’: Prince Charles denies claims he was the royal who made a racist comment about Archie

The mystery surrounding which senior royal made a racially-fuelled comment about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son has taken another dramatic turn.

Prince Charles has denied a bombshell allegation that he was the unnamed royal who made a racist remark about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son.

The explosive claim, made in an upcoming book, was blasted as “fiction and not worth comment” in a furious denial issued by Prince Charles’ spokesperson, The Sun reports.

In the tell-all titled Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, it is alleged that the Prince of Wales questioned what his grandchild’s complexion might be like – a claim that the royal has refuted.

The Sun reported that the allegation was only put to Clarence House on Friday – and all parties have denied the conversation took place.

A source told author Christopher Andersen that Prince Charles allegedly asked Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: “I wonder what the children will look like”.

Camilla is said to have been “somewhat taken aback” by the remark, and said in response: “Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain”.

According to The Sun, the source claims that Charles then lowered his voice and asked: “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”

A representative for Prince Charles strongly denied the allegation in a statement to New York Post.

“This is fiction and not worth further comment,” the statement said. A spokesman for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not respond to requests for comment, per the Post.

Meghan and Harry sensationally accused a senior royal of racism during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Winfrey there had been conversations with a “family member” about what their then-unborn son’s skin colour would be and “what that would mean or look like”.

Meghan and Harry said they would not publicly reveal who made the comments, saying it would be “damaging”. Prince Harry said he would “never share” the full details of the discussion.

Winfrey later revealed it was not the Queen or Prince Philip who made the offensive remarks.

“He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations,” Winfrey said at the time.

Meantime, Andersen claims in Brothers And Wives that Prince Charles’ genuine curiosity at what his grandchildren’s appearance might be had been taken out of context.

“The question posed by Charles was being echoed in a less innocent way throughout the halls of Buckingham Palace,” Andersen writes, per The Sun.

The book alleges Harry and Meghan had been the subject of baseless gossip by “the old boys’ network” around how it would “look to the rest of the world once African-American blood became part of the mix”.

Brothers And Wives is due out on November 30. Buckingham Palace has not yet issued a comment on its contents.
