Former Neighbours actor and staunch Donald Trump supporter Holly Valance has hinted she might one day make her own tilt at politics – as a Reform UK candidate.
The ex-Melburnian, who now lives in the UK with her property tycoon husband Nick Candy and their two daughters, said in a British television interview she had been approached to run in the country’s July election.
That was won by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Valance was interviewed by GB News’ political editor Christopher Hope at the Reform UK conference in Birmingham this weekend. Both wore matching blue cowboy hats and blue glasses.
“Look, I was very kindly asked would I consider,” Valance told Hope in response to a question about whether she had considered running as a Reform UK candidate at the last election.
“It’s something that I think is an incredibly serious, important job. It wasn’t right for me at the time.
“If at some point over the next five years, that becomes more realistic then I’d revisit that. But right now I’m just supporting from the sidelines.”
Valance was noncommittal about which seat she might run for should she decided to go ahead.
“It would be better to represent perhaps my area, where I know how the community lives, where the crime is, where the things are that aren’t working for our community,” she told Hope.
“So, if at some point that happens, fine. But right now it’s not even on my radar.”
In July, Valance hit the headlines when she hosted a huge fundraiser for Trump’s presidential campaign that raised millions of dollars.
Valance and her husband were seen warmly embracing Donald Trump Jr and his fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle as they escorted the couple to their waiting car.
When asked by reporters how the evening had been, Donald Trump Jr replied: “Incredible.”
Valance had earlier given a speech alongside the former US president’s eldest son at the event, which cost supporters up to $40,000 to attend.
When asked by a reporter why it had been important for her to host the event, Valance replied: “Because if America’s doing well, we’re all doing well.”
More than 100 guests, including US Republicans who were part of Trump’s White House between 2017 and 2021, were on the guest list for the event.
