Elton John has revealed he has a long road to recovery after a simple eye infection escalated leaving him with only limited vision.
Elton, 77, has been unusually quiet in recent months leading some fans to speculate on his whereabouts given the northern hemisphere summer is a time the highly social superstar would ordinarily be pictured hosting and attending star-studded parties.
In an emotional statement posted to Instagram, Elton updated his fans on his health woes.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” Elton wrote.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely low process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
Despite the concerning condition, Elton confirmed he was maintaining a positive attitude.
“I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” Elton said.
“I have been quietly spending he summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far,” Elton concluded, signing off the post, “with love and gratitude.”
Among those wishing the music icon well was Good Luck Babe hit maker Chappell Roan.
“We love you,” Roan wrote.
Fashion powerhouse Donatella Versace also gave her best to Elton.
“Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” Versace wrote.
Tennis superstar Billie Jean King passed on her regards as well.
