Two Australians have been attacked while visiting southern France for the Olympics.
The tourists were set upon while walking along Rue François Bazin towards Marseille’s main railway station, Saint-Charles, in the early hours of Monday morning, local time, French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche reported.
Two men approached the pair before one of the Australians was punched in the stomach, local police said, and stole their laptops, two cameras, a phone, a tablet, a drone, a Rolex watch as well as cash.
The frightening attack occurred just 45 minutes after three Americans, also visiting for the Games, were targeted in the same area by three assailants, during which one was punched in the face.
The latest incident comes a week after allegations an Australian woman was gang-raped in Paris just days before the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
According to French newspaper Le Figaro, the 25-year-old told police that she had been raped by five men.
The alleged victim sought refuge in a kebab shop just metres from the Moulin Rouge.
