A young boy has died following a house fire days before Christmas, as authorities investigate the cause of the blaze.

The family of a young boy who died in a house fire days before Christmas have delivered a heartbreaking family update as authorities probe the fatal blaze.

In a GoFundMe, the four-year-old boy’s grandmother Teresa appealed for help to allow her daughter Natasha “to help her and her family in this horrible situation that no one should have to go through”.

“This tragic house fire has taken her son, and destroyed all their belongings. They are now facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.”

The fire occurred on Sunday afternoon in Mandurah, south of Perth, as temperatures climbed above 40C.

Emergency services were called to the Carnoustie Gardens home in Meadow Springs at about 1.50pm, pulling the 4-year-old from the fire.

He was given first aid at the scene and taken to Peel Health Campus but could not be revived.

The fire was contained by 3.30pm, Western Australia emergency services reported.

The family has so far raised more than $34,000 for their expenses, appealing for “basic essentials like clothing, food, and temporary housing, funeral expenses, as well as help to start over”.

The boy’s two siblings were taken to hospital for treatment relating to smoke inhalation after attempting to rescue their brother. The pair were discharged on Monday morning.

WA Police do not believe the cause of the fire was suspicious at this time.

However, specialist fire investigators from the Arson Squad will attend the scene of the fire to further investigate its cause.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
