A terrified man is too traumatised to drive after an Uber driver screamed and spat at him in a violent road rage attack in Melbourne’s southeast.

Arvind Phorseliyan told the Herald Sun he was driving on the Princes Highway in Doveton about 1.40pm on Friday when a Uber driver swerved into his lane.

“It was a near-miss of my car so I honked at him and he deliberately brake-checked me, which caused me to jam (on my) brakes,” he said.

“He kept doing that for about five minutes until he cornered me.”

Mr Phorseliyan said the Uber driver jumped out of his car and screamed “f--k you Indians” and spat into his face.

“I was in a state of shock and disbelief,” he said.

“He caused a commotion on a busy highway just to prove his point when he was in the wrong,” he said.

“After he spat in my face, he tried to open my car door and kept telling me to get out of the car.”

Mr Phorseliyan said he has been too traumatised to drive since the violent rampage occurred last week.

Amanda Thomson said she was also attacked by the same Uber driver in Hallam on August 7.

Mrs Thomson was driving to Dandenong with her teenage daughter and husband when they were targeted.

“We slowed down to go over a speed hump and white Toyota Camry with an Uber sign started flashing its lights at us and tailgating our car,” she said.

“We kept driving and he got stuck at a roundabout.”

Mrs Thomson said the Uber driver overtook another car and starting tailgating them again.

“We got stuck at a red light and he got out of his vehicle and came over to my car screaming and swearing and telling my husband to get out of the car,” she said.

Mrs Thomson said the driver yelled “get out of the car, you piece of shit” and “I’ll f---ing get you, you piece of shit”.

“He then punched the window and kicked the door,” she said.

“My 16-year-old daughter was terrified … I was extremely scared.”

Mrs Thomson and Mr Phorseliyan both reported the attacks to police.

An Uber spokesperson said: “We have a zero tolerance approach to abusive behaviour and encourage any user who experiences this kind of behaviour to report it to us so we look into the matter and take appropriate action”.
