A young passenger was killed when a Ford Mustang ploughed into the back of a parked truck in a horrific smash in Melbourne’s west.
Detectives say the high-powered muscle car slammed into the trailer of the unoccupied, parked truck on Dunmore Drive in Truganina about 1am Wednesday.
The passenger of the car, a 24-year-old St Albans woman, was killed at the scene.
The driver of the car, a Caroline Springs man, 23, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He was on Wednesday night under police guard and will be interviewed when appropriate.
The orange Mustang struck the huge truck with such force it shifted the trailer partially onto the nature strip.
A piece of the Mustang’s front bumper was found some distance up the road in the industrial estate.
A separate chunk of the vehicle was left at the trailer while the body of the car had spun out and remained in the middle of the road.
It was left a complete and almost unrecognisable wreck.
Police will investigate whether speed, alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
