Cut-price tickets and family passes to the entire Melbourne Cup Carnival will be offered in a push to get big crowds back to the race that stops a nation.

Ticket prices to the spring major event will be frozen at 2019 prices as the Victoria Racing Club punts on fans flocking back to Flemington in numbers not seen since the start of the pandemic.

The Herald Sun can reveal a family ticket for two adults and two children will be available for all four days of Cup Week for the first time.

In another first, fans will be able to select their seat within the Hill and Lawn Stands using an interactive seat map to choose their preferred vantage point for Australia’s premier racing carnival.

After two years of crowd restrictions, VRC chief executive Steve Rosich said the club was

planning for this year’s Carnival to be “bigger and better than ever”.

“Each year Cup Week creates history with new legends forged on the track and iconic moments that become part of Australian folklore off the track,” he said.

“Racegoers can be part of that history by securing their ticket for Cup Week 2022.’’

Early bird ticket pricing will be available until June 30, with general admission tickets ranging from $42 on Oaks Day to $62 for Melbourne Cup Day and children under 12 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.

The Cup Carnival traditionally attracts more than 300,000 racegoers and generates more than $430 million for the Victorian economy each year.

“It is fantastic to see major events in Melbourne proceeding with capacity crowds, and we

cannot wait to welcome back racegoers … for a glorious 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival,’’ he said.

Adult tickets to the Cup will cost $89 after the early bird deal ends, with full-price entry to the Derby $83, Oaks $60 and Stakes $64.
