Man drowns at Balnarring Beach on Mornington Peninsula in Boxing Day tragedy

A man has died after being pulled from waters off Balnarring Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, while a teen is fighting for life after an incident in Bright.

A man has died after being pulled from waters off Balnarring Beach on the Mornington Peninsula in a Boxing Day tragedy.

Victoria Police said a man got into trouble after falling from a kayak near Mason-Smith Rd at about 1pm.

Bystanders dragged him to shore where paramedics worked to save his life but he died at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner over the death of the man, who police say has not yet been formally identified.

In a separate incident in Bright on Thursday afternoon a teenage boy was pulled from water unconscious.

The teen was pulled from a creek about 12.20pm and was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition.

“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing,” a Victoria Police said in a statement.
