Man burnt on face as he and his family escape Caroline Springs house fire

A family of five escaped as flames engulfed a two-storey home in Melbourne’s west, with one man hospitalised with burns to his face and hands.

A man was taken to hospital with burns on his face and hands after a home in Melbourne’s west was fully alight on Sunday night.

Emergency crews rushed to The Grange, Caroline Springs about 7.40pm on Sunday to find the two-storey home fully involved in fire with flames through the roof.

A family of five evacuated the house, with one male sustaining burns to his face and hands.

He was treated by FRV crew and paramedics before being transported to hospital, where he remains.

The fire, which took more than 40 minutes to be brought under control, has caused extensive damage to the house and contents.

The roof of the property has also collapsed.

FRV specialist Investigators will attend the scene on Monday morning to determine the cause of the fire.
