Former Geelong skipper Joel Selwood’s five-word post following the death of his older brother is breaking hearts across the footy world.
Troy Selwood was found dead in a home in Highton, a suburb of Geelong, last Tuesday.
The former Brisbane Lions player and Geelong VFL captain died at the age of 40, leaving behind two children.
The Selwood family has been showered with messaged of love and support, with Joel breaking his silence on the tragedy on Saturday night in a heartbreaking five-word social media post.
“Rest away brother, love you,” he posted alongside peace and love emojis.
He also shared a series of candid images of his brothers together.
The post was flooded with messages from people across the sporting world, including Melbourne-born NBA star Dyson Daniels, Richmond great Brett Deledio, Geelong star Jeremy Cameron, Carlton great Anthony Koutoufides and Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd.
The Selwood family is preparing to farewell Troy at a funeral service at GMHBA Stadium on February 14.
