Lifesavers rush to rescue swimmers, kayakers at Point Lonsdale

Emergency crews have rushed to rescue a group of swimmers and kayakers at Point Lonsdale in Melbourne’s west.

Lifesavers and police have rushed to help a group who got into trouble in the water at Point Lonsdale.

It is believed 18 people were swept out to sea just after 11.30am.

Victoria Police said multiple swimmers and kayakers had to be rescued.

Police Air Wing, Lifesaving Australia and the coast guard attended, along with the Water Police and local members.

All were recovered from the water and received medical treatment at the scene.
