Following an investigation into a complaint received from the public, Ms Keti ‘Kate’ Cvetkov has had a Public Health Service Warning Statement issued against her by the Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner.

Adjunct Professor Bernice Redley found Ms Cvetkov had advised a member of the public she was an endocrinologist, offering medical treatment that resulted in adverse outcomes for the patient.

An investigation into Ms Cvetkov was launched in November 2021 and upon conclusion, the sham doctor has been banned from ever offering general health advice again.

“The safety of Victorians continues to be our number one priority,” Prof Redley said.

“I have therefore issued this warning statement and permanent ban on Keti (Kate) Cvetkov offering any general health services.”

The investigation found Ms Cvetkov had contravened the Health Complaints Act of 2016 and she posed an “imminent and serious risk to the life, health, safety or welfare of the public”.

Prof Redley said most general health service providers comply with the healthcare Code of Conduct without problem, but the ones who do not can cause serious harm.

“It is important for any person considering engaging with providers such as Ms Cvetkov to give great consideration as to what can go wrong and what they have a right to expect from

their health service provider, so that they can make fully informed decisions.”

She recommended people undergoing medical treatment ask their providers about their qualifications and experience, the risks involved, and what insurance they have if something goes wrong.

“This should serve as a timely reminder to all General Health Service providers who do not observe the Code of Conduct that my office will investigate those providers who pose a serious risk to the public and take action against them,” Prof Redley said.
