A well-respected school principal who recently taught at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College and Salesian College for almost a decade has died after battling a short illness.
Robert Brennan has been remembered for his “humour” and “tenacity” as an educator and leader.
Mr Brennan, who died on Saturday, March 9 after a short illness, was the principal of Salesian College in Chadstone from 2012 to 2020.
He then took on the principal role at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College in Braybrook in 2021.
His funeral was held on Friday morning, with several students, teachers and parents from Caroline Chisholm and Salesian in attendance.
But in a cruel twist, Caroline Chisholm warned on its Facebook page that scammers were sharing links asking for payment to watch a livestream of Mr Brennan’s funeral.
“Please note that these ones (links) are a scam, and simply just a cruel opportunist seeking a way to profit off our community’s grief,” the school wrote.
“We continue to keep Rob and his family, friends and wider community in our thoughts and prayers.
“Today will be a difficult day, but one we will get through together,” they added.
In a statement, Salesian College wrote: “Rob was Salesian College Chadstone Principal from 2012 to 2020 and known to students, staff, parents and past pupils for his care, humour and tenacity as an educator and leader.”
“We remember especially, and pray for Rob, his family and his many friends during this time,” the school said.
“We are deeply concerned for all members of the Salesian College Chadstone family as they come to terms with the loss of Rob.
“We are particularly concerned about our students, staff and parents, both past and present. We are confident though that in our time of grief and sorrow our community will come together in loving kindness for each other.”
