There is more drama enveloping Amelia Hamer’s election campaign with the Liberal candidate for Kooyong’s posters, office and even a supporter’s home the target of vandals in a multi suburb attack on Friday night.

Members of the Victorian Liberal Party reported the incident to police on Saturday afternoon, telling the Herald Sun the incident was still unfolding as they continued to discover more vandalised and destroyed material.

Hamer’s campaign material has been targeted in Malvern, Armadale and Toorak, with signs painted over and torn in half.

CCTV has captured footage of those responsible for the vandalism which has also been handed over to police, with one home hosting the signs even egged by the vandals.

Ms Hamer’s office was also attacked with a “hammer and sickle” sign sprayed in black paint across the window.

A Toorak homeowner who didn’t want to be named in fear of the attacks said they were appalled by the incident.

“Vandalising political material will not encourage people to support your cause,” they said. “These people are vandals and are now beginning to frighten my friends.

“These actions are undemocratic and should be called out for what they are, a disgrace.”

Police confirmed they were looking into the spate of vandalism.

“Police are investigating after receiving reports campaign posters had been vandalised in Malvern, Armadale and Toorak,” they said.

“Investigators have been told the election signs were damaged overnight between Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.

“Investigations remain ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers”.

It’s just the latest drama in the last few weeks for the young Liberal, after the self described “renter” was discovered to own investment properties, and the husband of her fiercest rival was found ripping down her posters.

She has repeatedly proclaimed she is a renter, but confirmed to Nine newspapers that she owns properties in Canberra and London.

It was reported her London flat is worth more than $1m and was advertised at $3000 rent per month in 2020.

Peter Jordan, the husband of Teal MP Monique Ryan, was filmed carrying a large Amelia Hamer poster down the street after he had removed it.
