With wet weather and rainfall affecting Townsville over the last few days, organisers of the Stable at Riverway event have decided to cancel Friday’s planned program.

The annual free Christmas event, which has been running for 23 years, brings the town of Bethlehem to Townsville with entertainment, food trucks, interactive acitivies as well as actors and authentic sets to bring the story of the birth of Jesus to life.

The Cultural Night, which was planned for Friday evening, has been moved to Saturday night and will be held alongside the Christmas Market Night.

Richard Hosking from the event team said despite the wet conditions around 8000 people have attended already the event, which began on Wednesday night.

Stable at Riverway will run until December 22.
