A pair of youths allegedly tried to ram a police vehicle in a stolen car before losing control and crashing in Aitkenvale.

A stolen white Holden Barina was spotted by police driving at speed outbound on Nathan St, Aitkenvale about 3.15am on Friday.

Police said the vehicle crossed to the incorrect side of the road and drove straight towards a stationary police vehicle that was stopped at the traffic lights.

The police vehicle managed to move out of the way and the stolen vehicle lost control and struck the gutter, forcing it to come to a stop.

Police said two juvenile offenders ran from the vehicle on foot and officers managed to track down one male juvenile. He was arrested and taken to the watch house.

Queensland Ambulance Service were also called on scene but the police officers and juvenile in custody had not been injured in the incident.

The second juvenile remains outstanding. Investigations are continuing.
