A woman has been trapped after crashing into a pole nearby a children’s playground.
Emergency crews freed a woman trapped in the driver’s seat of a Toyota SUV after an apparent collision with a truck sent her vehicle careening off the Bruce Hwy and into a children’s playground in the centre of Ingham.
The woman is understood to have suffered injuries in the accident, while three children in the vehicle have been taken to Ingham Hospital with minor injuries.
Police were seen interviewing a truck driver from Blenners Transport, with his vehicle stopped further along the highway.
The Toyota SUV had veered off the highway and into a pole in front of a fence bordering the playground, triggering the driver’s side airbag.
It is not known how many children were in the playground at the time but the crash occurred at lunchtime in Rotary Park, which is currently hosting a show food stall and rides for children.
Witness Nick Dametto, the MP for Hinchinbrook, said he stopped to make sure the woman in the vehicle was okay.
