A young woman has been taken to hospital after hitting her head while riding on a scooter.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed paramedics were called to Rose St, North Ward about 8.15pm.

She said a 21-year-old woman had fallen off a scooter and hit her head.

It was not known if the woman was wearing a helmet.

She was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

Neuron Mobility e-scooters hit Townsville streets on Saturday.

Riders can share their location and use a 000 button in an emergency. The scooters are equipped with Geofencing technology and will control where e-scooters are ridden, parked and how fast the scooters can travel in certain areas.
