With school holidays nearing Errol Spoor has big plans on helping out struggling amusement ride businesses battling through the COVID-19 crisis.
The owner of the Townsville Mini Golf & Fun Park plans on collaborating with ride operators who have found themselves without business after many shows and carnivals, including the Townsville Show, were cancelled.

“In the coming weeks … we’re going to have some amusement rides come in, like dodgems,” Mr Spoor said.
“We’ll have it like a small amusement park, most likely prepared before the school holidays.”
He said the added attractions could stay for a while with no news of shows or carnivals going ahead anytime soon.
Mr Spoor said the 18-hole mini golf course opened after the first round of restrictions lifted, allowing up to 10 people to enjoy a round or a bounce on the jumping castles.
“It wasn’t a profitable operation, it was just to keep the wheels rolling,” he said.
With the latest restrictions lifted, more than 20 people will be allowed to play with the 4000 sqm space allowing plenty of distance between people.
An increasing number of people have been flocking to the course as further restrictions were relaxed.
Mr Spoor said Townsville Mini Golf & Fun Park was as old as the Cowboys, opening in 1995, and had helped generations of people celebrate special events.
