North Queensland’s hobbyists who have embraced the globally renowned Warhammer war game franchise will need to embark on an epic adventure to discover the new location for its Townsville store.

Created by Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley, and first published by the Games Workshop company in 1983, Warhammer features two main settings – fantasy and science fiction – where players battle miniature models on a tabletop battlefield using dice rolls and rules to simulate combat and movement.

Warhammer has built a cult following and thriving community over the decades with fans hooked on collecting, building, painting their favourite miniatures, playing thrilling tabletop games, and immersing themselves in fantastic fiction.

After being located in the CBD at 280 Flinders St for several years, Townsville’s Warhammer store has relocated to Shop T154 in Castletown Shopping Centre, between Westpac and Commonwealth Bank, and reopened on May 31.

A Warhammer spokesman said they were “incredibly excited” to bring Warhammer to the new location, where the centre’s vibrant atmosphere and strong sense of community made it the perfect new home.

Castletown Centre Manager Kathy Langsford said Warhammer’s addition perfectly aligned with their commitment to deliver unique and engaging experiences at Castletown,” Ms Langsford said.
