A multimillion-dollar upgrade was announced by the Federal and State Governments in January this year after petitioning from the family of crash victim, Kurt Philpots, who was killed in December.

The proposed $107 million upgrades will add another two lanes to the 5.2km section of the Bruce Highway between Veales Rd and Pope Rd, including another bridge.

Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto said design work was due to be completed within months and construction would start next year.
