Townsville-based 3rd Brigade has plans in place should it need to be rapidly deployed to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
Brigadier Kahlil Fegan said 3rd Brigade was ready to support the Federal Government as part of its COV-19 response.
“Our planning staff remain closely linked with the Emergency Management Australia-led teams and we are ensuring we are able to rapidly deploy a scalable response should it be needed,” he said.
“We are following the guidelines from the Government closely and changing the way we work to reduce the risk of spread of COVID-19. We have made changes to our training in order to ensure our soldiers are able to protect themselves and each other, while maintaining a high level of readiness to respond within a variety of operational environments.”
Brig Fegan reinforced containing the spread of the virus was a community responsibility.
“Our city is strong and if we all work together, like we have so many times before, we will get through this,” he said.
