SPORT has helped shape former Townsville Fire player Mia Murray’s life.
That’s part of the reason she is an ambassador for the 2020 Get Active Expo.
The expo is on this Sunday and will include come and try sessions, sports club sign-ons, healthy eating workshops and sporting exhibitors as well as prizes and giveaways.
Murray said being active from a young age had shaped her life.
“I know from my experience how important playing a sport was throughout my life, obviously being a professional basketballer in adulthood,” she said. “It was just a way of being physically active and healthy but also socially it goes a long way for making friendships. I still have friends from when I played under 10s basketball.”
Expo ambassador and sprinter Jake Doran said sport enriched society.
“It is incredibly important whether you’re a little whipper snapper running around chasing a ball or you are taking it all the way through as a career,” he said.
The expo is on at Townsville Stadium on Sunday, 9am-2pm. Entry is free.
