Townsville is home to perhaps the only exclusive pinball holiday house and gaming paradise in the world.

Boasting 20 plus free-to-use classic and modern pinball machines, a foosball table, gaming consoles and arcade and board games, the popular holiday letting in Belgian Gardens is almost always booked and gets 10 out of 10 ratings and rave reviews on booking site Stayz.

Officially called ‘the Pinball Holiday House’, the one-of-a-kind holiday home is the brainchild of Empire Alternacade and Events owner Jason Lynch and has been operating to maximum capacity for the past two years.

Lynch said he originally set up the venue at a destination for gamers but found it became more popular with families.

“With such a large amount of pinball, in particular, we thought it would be a great spot for tournaments and other sort of players to travel to, which we do get, however, it’s turned into more of a general family fun stay,” he said.

“Everything here is on free play. So you pay your amount to stay here, and then everything that you see – you don’t have to pay a cent more.

“It’s really good for families, groups, and people looking to relive their childhood.”

He said the feedback from guests was positive.

“They just can’t really believe the amount of machines that are actually here, and just such a unique experience.”

One of the reviews on the Stayz website for the pinball property states: “Such a wonderful little paradise in a great location. The house was nice and tidy, lots of signs everywhere to make life easy and the pinball machines and board games are a great addition to the house.”

Another comments: “So much to do, fun at every corner, perfectly set out for our group with well-appointed furnishings, will try to use again upon our return”.

With another: “Best birthday ever were the words of our now 10 year old who celebrated his birthday at the pinball house”.

Apart from the pinball machines and games the three-bedroom home also has a pool, modern kitchen, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, a hot tub, free Wi-Fi and is close to the Townsville Airport.

There is also a Polaroid camera allowing guests to take a holiday memento photo and peg it to the hallway of the holiday home for ‘eternity’.

When setting up and researching for the property Lynch said they discovered it was a unique experience.

“When we were doing our research, we found that this is this is likely one of the only ones of its kind in the world.”
