It is a chance of a lifetime for Townsville paramedic student Mat Kennedy to travel 8500km to help some of the poorest people in the world.
The CQUniversity student will depart for Nepal on February 18 for two and half weeks to volunteer in a small health clinic three hours outside Kathmandu. The program is part of The Wild Medic Project that provides frontline medical and educational clinics in remote corners of the globe. Mr Kennedy is in his last year of a Bachelor of Paramedic Science and said joining the humanitarian project had been a long-term aspiration.
“I have always been interested in regional and remote healthcare and Nepal will give me a really good perspective on the health challenges in the Third World countries,” he said. “It is going to be a wonderful experience to consolidate skills that I have learn in the degree in that environment.”
