A Townsville man suffered head injuries after his van rolled multiple times and slammed into a few.

A Townsville man suffered head injuries after his van rolled multiple times and slammed into a few.

The 36-year-old man was driving along the Bowen Development Rd near Mt Coolon at 100km when he lost control of the green van about 3pm Wednesday.

After rolling a number of times, the van came to rest on its side against a barbed wire fence beside the road.

The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage of the overturned vehicle and

his wife, who was travelling in a vehicle behind him, called emergency services.

The RACQ Rescue helicopter met ambulance crews at the scene.

The man suffered minor head injuries despite the severity of the crash. He was flown to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
