Townsville eateries ready to serve you during coronavirus pandemic
With most of the city in lockdown, the Townsville Bulletin is compiling a list of the local cafes and restaurants who are still open for its Open for Business initiative, showcasing companies with the tenacity and fighting spirit for which we are famous.
Townsville
Don't miss out on the headlines from Townsville. Followed categories will be added to My News.
These businesses were bustling with customers a short few weeks ago.
Today, they’ve had to quickly adapt to the coronavirus crisis in order to stay viable. Whether it is your favourite coffee shop, restaurant or handyman, the friendly service is still there, just not as we are used to.
Each day townsvillebulletin.com.au will highlight, for free, businesses that have turned to new ways of doing what they do best.
We will also showcase inspiring tales of Townsvillians defying the odds in coming weeks, so please drop us a line at letters@townsvillebulletin.com.au if you have a great story to tell.
We are in this together. All of us. Here are just some of the food and beverage outlets still trading across the city — to get your business added, fill out the online form found on our website.
City Lane and City Arcade
City Lane and City Arcade remain open and operational.
While restaurants are now only offering take away options, Woolworths, the pharmacy, medical providers, as well as retail and service-based businesses are all open as usual
“Our thoughts are with the owners and employees impacted by this decision, as well as their families, during these unprecedented and challenging times,” the centre said in a statement on Facebook.
“City Lane and City Arcade is a community, and we all need to support each other.
“We thank you for your continued understanding and adherence to best-practice around personal hygiene, staying home if you’re unwell and purchase restrictions.
“We’ll continue to keep you informed as this situation develops. In the meantime, stay well and look after each other.”
The Brewery
Townsville Brewery will be delivering cartons and six-packs of its locally brewed beers to homes across the city, as well as continuing to deliver food via Uber Eats.
People from across Townsville will be able to order Legends Lager, Tropical Coast Pale Ale, Townsville Bitter Premium and Townsville Bitter Light in either cartons or six-packs, while the Brewery’s heavier offering, the Rebel Red IPA will only be available in six-packs.
Betty Blue and the Lemon Tart
Betty Blue and the Lemon Tart posted on Facebook that it was feeling optimistic about the future.
“Aunty Betty is a positive person and believes we need to remain solution focused,” the business said.

“We are a family run business and that means each and every order you place, no matter the size, makes a HUGE difference to us and all of our amazing employees,” it said.
“So THANKYOU from the bottom of our hearts. Big love.”
Shorehouse
“Like thousands of businesses across the country we this morning woke to a surreal new world,” Shorehouse said in a post on Facebook.
“At this time we have to be honest in saying we don’t know what our future holds.
“We hope, like all of you, that there is an end to COVID-19 and we will one day reopen our doors. We hope that this is weeks, not months or years but at this time there is no information available to us to know.”
The bar and restaurant will continue to do take away, but said “it is no silver bullet to keep businesses live”.
