The Townsville community is being urged to throw a “snag on the barbie” in the spirit of keeping the memory of Remembrance Day alive.
The ‘Barbecue to Remember’ event was launched by veterans lifestyle app group Swiss 8 to encourage Australians to observe Remembrance Day by connecting around the barbecue and reflect on the selfless acts of the men and women who have served in the Australian Defence Force.

Herbert MP and Swiss 8 patron Phil Thompson said he would be co-hosting a Barbecue to Remember event on November 11 from Parliament House.
“Our serving Defence and veteran community missed the opportunity to connect and come together on Anzac Day as the nation was in the thick of its COVID-19 response,” Mr Thompson said.
“I’ve been contacted by many people who have really felt the lasting mental health impacts of that separation.
“A connected community and network of mates is integral to good mental health and A Barbecue To Remember is another way our region can really get behind our serving Defence and veteran community who do so much for North Queensland.”
