Townsville Brewery to deliver beers to homes during COVID-19 pandemic

A Townsville business has come to the aid of those who face an empty beer fridge during the coronavirus crisis.
From tomorrow, Townsville Brewery will be delivering cartons and six-packs of its locally brewed beers to homes across the city.
Head brewer Sam Lloyd said the move would ensure the business could keep more of its workers employed, while across the country pubs and clubs were ordered to shut by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Essentially we are looking for an avenue to keep the brewers and core staff working,” he said.
Mr Lloyd said there were two workers in the brewing department, one bar manager and a number of chefs.
He said the ‘brUber’ delivery service had already been a hit with the phone line ringing hot with people pre-ordering.
“Calls are coming in thick and fast. It’s going to take quite a bit to keep up with,” he said.
People from across Townsville will be able to order Legends Lager, Tropical Coast Pale Ale, Townsville Bitter Premium and Townsville Bitter Light in either cartons or six-packs, while the Brewery’s heavier offering, the Rebel Red IPA will only be available in six-packs.
Mr Lloyd said beers were competitively priced.

People living within 10km of the CBD can get their beers delivered for free, otherwise pay a $10 fee if they live outside the radius. Deliveries can be made on the same day if made before 2pm.
Deliveries will be made Monday to Saturday between 12pm-3pm and 5pm-7pm.
Food takeaway options including burgers, pizza and brisket are also available over the bar or by phone.
