The NTI Townsville 500 has cemented its claim as one of North Queensland’s premier events after Ministry of Sound was confirmed as its headline entertainment.
“This ground-breaking partnership between Supercars and Ministry of Sound underscores our commitment to providing a world-class experience for fans of all ages as part of our annual visit to North Queensland,” Supercars CEO Shane Howard said.
“From the inaugural Gen3 races to the iconic Ministry of Sound show, this year’s event promises to be one of the biggest in our 14-year history in Townsville.”
Last year, the Supercars brought down the house in Townsville with Aussie hip-hop favourite, Hilltop Hoods.
It will be the first time that The Ministry of Sound’s Classical show has appeared in Townsville, as well as the first Supercars race in Townsville to feature the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs.
Classical features The Ministry of Sound Orchestra with conductor Vanessa Perica reimagining the songs that have made it the world’s leading authority in dance music.
Celebrating 30 years, the orchestral performance accompanied by live vocals will feature renditions of tracks by artists that include Groove Armada, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Fatboy Slim, Underworld and Moby.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill welcomed the return of one of the biggest events on the Supercars calendar, renowned for its high-octane action on and off the track.
“As a council we are focused on growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that embraces the arts and sports,” she said.
“Ministry of Sound headlining the NTI Townsville 500 is the perfect intersection of culture and I can’t wait to get among the action next month.”
Also on track at this year’s Townsville 500 will be some of the best support categories in the country, including the Dunlop Super2 and Dunlop Super3 Series, the Porsche Carrera Cup, Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series and the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series.
