A doctor’s practice which was badly damaged by a fire will reopen this month with state of the art medical equipment and fresh furnishings.
A fire damaged the interior of the SuperClinics practice at Annandale at Marabou Dr in November last year.
The fire was reported about 9pm on November 20 and was believed to have started in one of the treatment rooms. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.
Practice manager Colleen Belcher (left) said the practice needed to be rebuilt but looked forward to welcoming back patients after temporarily operating from Castletown shopping centre.
“The fire was actually started by a laptop. The more they looked the more (damage) they found,” she said.
“They’ve replaced the whole roof.”
The Annandale practice will reopen on September 28, 10 months after the fire.
Ms Belcher said the refurbished practice would also replace the one at Fairfield which was damaged in last year’s flood event in February.
She said ample free parking and wheelchair access would make seeing a doctor easier for patients.
The medical centre at Castletown closed yesterday.
