Elton John’s long-time guitarist Davey Johnstone plans to “rock people’s socks off” during Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert in Townsville.
The farewell tour will officially open the Queensland Country Bank Stadium on February 29.
Johnstone has worked almost exclusively with Elton for nearly five decades and said the concert would not disappoint.
“This is a big deal, this is the last time we are going around the world playing and the show is pretty spectacular with quite an elaborate stage with a lot of video effects,” he said.
“We go out every night on stage and we have one purpose in mind and that is to take it to all the people and connect with every one of them and have a great time at the same time.”
The musician has played more than 3000 concerts with Elton and said they all loved to entertain the crowd.
“Elton really loves to rock. Our band is out there to rock people’s socks off and that’s what we do,” he said.
“I hope everybody comes along to see Elton perform for the very last time,” he said.
