A Railway Estate home has avoided complete destruction after fire crews arrived in time to extinguish a blaze inside the house.
According to the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) emergency crews were called out to the house fire at 11.20am, Thursday (January 9).
When they arrived the two-storey home was “smoke logged” and a fire was located inside one of the rooms.
Paramedics were also called and attended a person at the scene, but they were deemed stable and did not require transport.
This fire comes after a string of home fires in Townsville over the Christmas holidays, including a Boxing Day house fire in Garbutt which claimed the life of a man, and another which has left a mother of ten homeless.
