Their official job title is “resident therapy pugs”, and a brother-sister duo are in the business of making patients smile.

International Take Your Dog to Work Day may be today but “working” isn’t something new for Cuba and Honey, who’ve held their customer service position at The Physio Movement for four years now.

Practice manager Rachel Fabbro said the pair have been tending to patients in need of a smile or cuddle since they were eight weeks old.

“Honey knows she goes to work every day, it’s her job,” she said.

“Whether its forgetting about their pain for even just a moment or putting a smile on their face, they (pugs) just put patients instantly at ease.

“They give extra special care to both our NDIS patients and children with special needs.”

The international awareness day was created to highlight the mental health benefits pups can have on people, and encouraged everyone to consider having a dog at work.

Ms Fabbro said Cuba had since relocated with his pup parents to Coffs Harbour. “They were very mischievous when they were together but Honey is our little sass pot. She’s more obsessed with kids than adults.”
