A popular pizza shop has called it a day in a shock announcement that has devastated Townsville foodies.
Players Pizza shut its doors at the start of the month, with hundreds of customers paying homage to the store.
“My heart breaks for you all. You guys are so amazing, such great teamwork and passion,” Sarah Verrall posted on Facebook.
“So devastated for you guys. The best pizzas in Townsville plus the best friendly family service eve,” Jane Wright, another saddened customer, added.
The Thuringowa Central store topped the Townsville Bulletin’s poll for the best pizza in 2018.
But there is a chance it could still end up dishing up pizzas, with shop management putting out a call for someone new to take over the lease and business.
“You would require three months rent, security bond and purchase the equipment at only 25 per cent of its purchase value. We would teach you everything you would need to know – all the hard work has been done,” the post said.
This closure was not the only one met with sadness; Real Burger Co announced it would be closing its Hyde Park store on Sunday.
