A mine worker has suffered head injuries at a North Queensland mine. Paramedics are treating the worker underground.

UPDATE:

A mine worker has been taken to hospital for further assessment following an incident at a North Queensland mine.

A Queensland Mines Inspectorate (QMI) spokesperson told the Townsville Bulletin: “QMI was notified of an incident where a worker was injured at George Fisher Mine near Mt Isa on 11 May 2020,” the spokesperson said.

“The worker received treatment at the mine before being transported to hospital for further assessment.

“The mine operator will provide a report on incident to the QMI.”

EARLIER: A mine worker has suffered head injuries at a North Queensland mine.

Paramedics are treating the worker underground.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to a mine at Mount Isa about 11.20am.

The spokeswoman said the worker was in a stable condition.

It’s the latest mining incident after five men were severely injured in an explosion at a Moranbah mine last week.
