Helping Townsville businesses flourish through the tough times is the idea behind a new local delivery venture.
Owners of Townsville businesses including Grandma’s and Balabite, Dana Kvatinsky and Avi Cohen recently launched a delivery service, Townsville Delivery.
The service has been six months in the making and aims to connect the community with a variety of food retailers.
“It is a big project and when the virus hit us, it became more relevant. We moved to give that priority because we wanted to launch as soon as possible,” Mr Cohen said.
“Balabite will be the first to start delivering then Grandma’s then we will open our system for the local stores.”

The service will start with three drivers covering a 10km radius with hopes to open up extra delivery driver jobs.
Mr Cohen said Townsville Delivery was about supporting the local community.
“A lot of our colleagues are suffering but this is a tool that will give them an opportunity to deliver with fair software that is local,” he said.
“It is local food delivery, owned and operated by Townsville locals, that will create job opportunities, leaving money in town.”
Ms Kvatinsky highlighted the need for everyone in lockdown to still have access to healthy meal options.
She said Townsville Delivery would offer street food, restaurant food, groceries, frozen meals, home-cooked meals and family packages.
“We are lucky to be in the Townsville community and we want to work with the locals and hopefully we will be back soon and we will move forward with amazing options,” she said.
“We want to bring this area back to life and we hoping to bring a spark and energy and bring a smile to people at home.”
Townsville Delivery can be downloaded on Apple devices with Android devices soon to follow.
