Police have ramped up efforts in a major homicide investigation, urging Gulliver residents to check their CCTV after a 47-year-old woman was found dead in her unit.
Detectives from Townsville’s Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Unit have launched Operation Whiskey Elmhurst after the gruesome discovery at her unit in Chandler St, Garbutt on Monday, November 4.
Investigators believe the woman may have died around Wednesday, October 30.
Her body was discovered during a welfare check triggered by a pay phone call.
A command centre has been set up, with “significant resources” dedicated to uncovering the circumstances of her death, catching those involved, and bringing closure to her family.
Police are now urging locals in Gulliver to check CCTV footage from properties on streets including Leeds St, Cambridge St, Brighton St, Bristol St, McDonald St, Mooney St, Begg St, Tippett St, Devon St, Stafford St, Palmerston St, Hammett St, Noongah St, Maroong St, Iluka St, Nyora St, Bayswater Rd, and Dalrymple Service Rd between 1am and 3:30am on Thursday, October 31.
Detectives are particularly keen on footage showing anyone walking on roads or pathways.
They are also appealing for dashcam footage from Mount View Plaza and Bamford Lane in Kirwan on Sunday, November 3 at 10.50am or between 9.30am and 11.45am on Monday, November 4.
