A 64-year-old female driver is in a stable condition at Townsville University Hospital following a serious crash on the Flinders Highway near the intersection of the Woodstock Giru road.
The driver was flown to hospital by the Queensland Rescue helicopter after being entrapped in a sedan involved in the crash which also involved two trucks.
The drivers of the two trucks were not injured.
The Flinders Highway remains closed and traffic is being diverted along Woodstock Giru Road.
UPDATE:
Both lanes of the Flinders Highway near the intersection of the Woodstock Giru road will remain closed for at another 4-5 hours following a two vehicle crash.
A Queensland Police spokesman said traffic is being bypassed through Woodstock Giru Road, which is open.

ONE person remains trapped in a vehicle following a serious crash on the Flinders Highway near Townsville, and both lanes have been closed.
Long delays are expected and emergency services are on scene and en-route.
The Queensland Rescue helicopter has been called to the scene of the crash on the Flinders Highway near the intersection of the Woodstock Giru road about 2.40pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the crash involved a car and a truck.
The Queensland Government Air rescue helicopter has been tasked to the scene.

Emergency services are racing to the scene of a serious crash near Townsville.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the crash happened on the Flinders Highway near the intersection of the Woodstock Giru road about 2.40pm.
It is understood one person is trapped inside a vehicle.
