Residents living in a North Ward apartment block were evacuated after a unit caught fire this afternoon.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said emergency services responded to a unit complex fire at the intersection of Gregory St and Eyre St about 12.54pm.
The spokesman said the fire was extinguished about 1.10pm with fire fighters having entered the unit and conducting searches.
Station officer Luke Smith said all people who were living in the block were accounted for.
“We witnessed smoke issuing from the rear of the premise … we quickly brought the fire under control,” he said.
“We’ll have our fire investigation teams ensure there’s a thorough investigation completed.”
One lane of traffic along Gregory St which had been closed off to the public was reopened again.
