An inmate at Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre who allegedly assaulted other prisoners and officers has also been charged with attempting to kill them.

A prisoner has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting other inmates and correctional service officers.
Lillian Angela Kawangka, an inmate at Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, three counts of deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and serious assault of an officer.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said emergency services were called to the centre in Stuart on August 6 at 8.20am after they received a report the 28-year-old had assaulted four prisoners and two officers.
The spokesperson confirmed that the two correctional service officers were not injured.
Ms Kawangka’s charges were briefly mentioned in Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Magistrate Kerri Fredericks adjourned the matter to September 10.
