Mount Louisa man, 23, dies in crash at Ayr

A young Mount Louisa man has died after crashing into a power pole in the early hours of Monday morning south of Townsville.

A young Mount Louisa man has died following a crash at Ayr.

Police were notified of the crash on Beach Rd near Lilliesmere Court in the early hours of Monday morning.

Early investigations indicate a Kia Cerato left the road and crashed into a power pole on the opposite side of the road.

The 23-year-old man was the sole occupant of the car.

Police confirmed the man was driving south along Beach Rd.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man was “assessed for critical injuries” but died at the scene.

Paramedics were called to the crash at 12.40am.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
