Man suffers head, limb injuries in Bruce Hwy crash at Damper Creek

A man has been seriously injured in a horror crash on a deadly stretch of the Bruce Highway.

A man has been seriously injured in a horror crash on a deadly stretch of the Bruce Highway.

Emergency services were called to the crash at Damper Creek, south of Cardwell, about 8.30am today.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a man was treated at the scene after crashing his car into a tree in the single vehicle crash.

She said the man suffered head, leg and arm injuries.

QAS Acting Senior Operations Supervisor Denis O’Sullivan said the high speed crash caused “significant impact” to the car.

“The vehicle contained an early 30s male who was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time,” he said.

“When (paramedics) extricated the male he was found he had fractures to his lower limbs and his right forearm, the patient had an altered conscious state.”

The man, who is understood to be from Cardwell, was flown to Townsville University Hospital by the Queensland Government Air rescue helicopter in a serious but stable condition.

The crash occurred near to where Kirwan father Bryan Hutchinson died in a horrific fiery crash.

The father-of-seven who died in June was remembered as an adoring partner.
