An elderly man has been flown to hospital after getting lost in outback Queensland.

An elderly man has been flown to hospital after getting lost in outback Queensland.

The Mount Isa-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked by police to search for the man almost 400km northeast of Mount Isa.

The missing man was last seen by his family about 8am on Sunday at a campsite along the Flinders River.

As the rescue chopper approached the search area, its crew was notified the man had been found by police officers.

The Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic treated the males in his 70s for dehydration.

The man was flown to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
