A man who allegedly robbed a suburban bottle shop while armed with a machete has been arrested and charged after being chased down by police.

A man who allegedly robbed a suburban bottle shop while armed with a machete has been arrested.

A 21-year-old Rasmussen man was identified by police patrolling Garbutt on foot shortly after 12.30am today.

Townsville Criminal Investigation Brach officer in charge Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Flanders said the man accused of robbing money from Bob’s Bulk Booze earlier in the week was arrested on Lonerganne St, Garbutt after a short foot chase.

The man was charged with armed robbery and appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court today.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear back in court on January 15.
