A Magnetic Island man brandished a homemade mango picker fashioned into a weapon at his neighbour as the man relaxed in his own backyard.
The makeshift picker constructed by Picnic Bay resident Caleb Wake, 26, was used in a “menacing” way against his neighbour.
The Townsville Magistrates Court was told the victim was resting in his yard in October this year when Wake trespassed on to his property.

Wake approached his neighbour yelling “black lives matter”, police prosecutor Tasman Murphy said.
“(He was) carrying a long pole with a knife approximately 8 inches long, which was attached to the end of the pole,” he said. “The victim has had to jump up from the ground and after a struggle disarmed the defendant and threw the weapon away.”
Mr Murphy said the man had to forcibly remove Wake from his backyard.
Magistrate Ken Taylor acknowledged the attack was “low level offending of a minor nature”. Wake was fined $550.
Convictions were recorded.
